Possibly you have heard about ESG, which is the acronym for Environmental, Social and Governance, first used in 2004 by the World Bank and the United Nations. Kofi Annan, then Secretary General of the UN, questioned CEOs of financial institutions around the world on how to integrate ESG factors into capital markets. In 2020, the agenda was discussed again at the World Economic Forum, when the report with the universal definition of social, environmental and governance metrics was released.
ESG
Actions related to the adoption of policies ESG are an important differentiating position, which generates value to those involved and can affect the performance of a company. It is essential, therefore, that the expectations of investors, customers and stakeholders are aligned.
community and challenges
In the context of Uliving, our audience of residents and employees is part of generations that are extremely concerned and engaged with issues of this theme. The concerns of the new generations are directly related to the ESG theme. One of the common features of Millennials and generation Z is that both look to this agenda to understand which companies would like to relate – both in terms of consumption and employment – and what is being done to help create a more sustainable and equitable world.
One of our challenges today is to develop ESG concepts on a daily basis, in actions that are relevant to our community and company and translate them into effectively practical actions.
Let's talk about practice?!
Over the coming weeks, we will address, in different contexts, some concepts and guidelines that reinforce our culture and, strengthened by the different ESG axes, collaborate to effectively carry out our mission.
We are going to rethink the day-to-day business to reduce impacts on the environment, reinforce our governance and codes of conduct, optimize management processes and adopt practices that contribute to building a fairer, more diverse and responsible society and allow us to transform the way we the young person relates to society.
