The first football stadium in Brazil
Consolação is a neighborhood full of tradition and, to confirm this, another curiosity is about the football stadium that was inaugurated in 1892, between Martinho Prado and Olinda streets (today Nestor Pestana) for cycling, initially.
The first football stadium in Brazil was home to the Club Athlético Paulistano, which was created in 1900. The venue hosted most of the games in the first edition of the Campeonato Paulista, in 1902. Scene of several historic matches, in 1919, the Sociedade de Cultura Artística acquired the land for the construction of the Teatro Cultura Artística, inaugurated in 1950.
