Do you know what VLTs are? Well, they are similar to trains and subways, but they have differences. The VLT (light rail vehicle) is much lighter than trains or subways, since they have smaller compositions, manage to transport a smaller number of passengers and tend to be less expensive for the public administration. VLT in Santos It is very useful for university students, because o vlt value in Santos is well taken into account and the route of the vlt in Santos it also makes it worthwhile.
It should be noted that the most striking difference, both in terms of appearance and functionality, is the fact that the VLT runs at street level. Its rails don't take up that much space, and it produces little (or almost no) noise when passing. In this way, the wagons can even be on the streets, sidewalks and even squares of the city, as they are inserted in a much more friendly way in the city landscape.
Where to load the VLT card in Santos? As with the train and subway, VLT stations work with cards, which are sold and loaded at the stations themselves. This is done the moment you enter the car, making it very reminiscent of old trams.
Because of all this, this means of public transport is being increasingly adopted in urban centers, aiming to supply shorter trips and complement the need for trains or subways.
The number of university institutions in Santos is enormous. The city has a public and private student hub and most students use public transport. It is known that, most of the time, the journeys are made by bus. However, to try to reduce the flow of people in the main transport, VLTs were created.

How much does a ticket cost?
In February 2022, the value of the VLT in Santos rose from R$4,65 to R$4,95. But, when there is some integration (of the municipal lines), the user of the metropolitan transport of Baixada Santista can use the VLT without paying an extra ticket.
And how does it all work? Well, when boarding the metropolitan bus, the fare will be debited from the user's card and when integrating with the VLT, an additional amount will not be debited again. Thus, everything will vary according to the rate of the line that will be used.
In order to have the necessary access, users must have the BRCard Card to carry out the integration between the VLT and the metropolitan lines. For the VLT, it is not necessary to have a previous card, just make the payment inside the means of transport.
